My Story

I've always been a private person and have never shared my story publicly. But, after so many of you asked about my experience during coaching sessions, I realized that my story could inspire others. We all have a story, some more challenging than others, but I believe that building this community is essential to help you heal, get hired, build a strong resume, seek out your goals, get through an interview, become an entrepreneur, or regain that lost confidence.

Never Leaving a Fallen Comrade: My Journey to Success and the Creation of The Transition Mission
Never Leaving a Fallen Comrade: My Journey to Success and the Creation of The Transition Mission

In 2015, when I was getting out of the Army, I felt lost and unsupported. I had served honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan, maxed my PT test, finished my degree, and was working on my second degree. But, the Army froze promotions to E7, leaving me stuck as a Staff Sergeant for three years. They wanted us to switch to 25D - Cyber Network Defender from 25B - Information Technology Specialist, and I thought that changing would increase my chances of getting pinned E7.

However, I then fell ill, began to gain weight, and despite no change in my diet, no military doctor knew what was wrong. The Army told me I had to go, regardless of my successful career.

I was stunned and had no idea what to do next. But, I remembered the Army Warrior Ethos which states, "I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit, and I will never leave a fallen comrade." So, I decided to place myself, "The Mission," first.

And that's what I did. I applied and interviewed for jobs and ended up with 9 job offers, including one from Booz Allen Hamilton for $95k annually at the time, and two offers from the Cyber Protection Brigade, working for NSA. I took the offer that I felt would benefit me the most to grow in my career, even though it was a challenging decision without guidance.

I remember feeling shocked when HR told me, "Mr. Augustine, you have been selected for both positions and can choose from either. I encourage you to look at the difference in conditions of employment." I signed and accepted one, but just in case it was a trick, I didn't decline the other.

HR came back and said, "Mr. Augustine, I am relooking at your paperwork and emails, I have acceptance from you on both positions you were offered and no declination on one. Can you tell me which position you actually intend to accept?"

It was a nerve-wracking experience, but I eventually accepted one offer. Shortly after leaving the military, I discovered I was diabetic, which was causing my weight gain. Despite battling VA disability, I managed to reach 90% and succeeded on my own.

That's why I started the Transition Mission - to ensure that no one else goes through what I did with no support system. As a veteran who served in the Army, I believe we can provide resources and coaching to those interested in becoming entrepreneurs.

Our community is here to help you transition successfully, whether you're a veteran or still in service. In just one month, we've surpassed 8,000 subscribers, and I want to keep growing this community as the ultimate source of truth for military transition across all branches of service.

Transition Mastery: A Comprehensive Solution for Military Veterans' Transition to Civilian Life

The Transition Mastery program is a comprehensive coaching program designed to provide the support and resources that military veterans need to successfully transition to civilian life. We understand that transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging, and our program is specifically designed to address the unique challenges that veterans face during this process.

Many veterans struggle to find the resources and support they need to successfully make the transition to civilian life. Without proper guidance and support, veterans may struggle to find meaningful employment, manage finances, build a support system, and navigate the VA disability system, which can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and frustration.

Our Transition Mastery program is tailored to each veteran's individual needs, and we begin by conducting an initial assessment to identify their specific goals and challenges. From there, we work one-on-one with each veteran to develop a strategic plan for achieving their goals and provide ongoing support to ensure they stay on track.

Our program includes career counseling, job placement assistance, personal development, VA disability navigation, networking, emotional and spiritual support, and ongoing follow-up to ensure a successful transition. We also provide customized materials and resources tailored to each veteran's specific needs, such as resume templates, interview tips, and job search strategies.

In addition to one-on-one coaching, we also offer group coaching sessions with other military veterans, access to a network of experts in various fields, and resources for spouses and family members to ensure a successful transition for the whole family.

With the Transition Mastery program, veterans can achieve their career goals, manage their finances, build a support system, and find the emotional and spiritual support they need to navigate the transition to civilian life with confidence and success.
